Chongqing COVID-19 Update: 120 Confirmed Cases Hospitalized, Chongqing-Sichuan Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism

· The overall confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland had reached 80,026 by the end of March 1. A total of 2,912 people have died of COVID-19, and altogether 44,462 people have been discharged from hospital after recovery.

· China’s daily output of masks reached 116 million units as of the end of February.

· As of the end of Sunday, Chongqing had reported a total of 576 confirmed cases, with 120 currently hospitalized, nine severe cases and two critical cases, six deaths, and 450 discharged patients. Sunday had no newly confirmed cases for the sixth consecutive day, and twelve more patients recovered and were discharged from the hospital.

· Southwest China’s Chongqing and Sichuan’s Memorandum on Coordinately Strengthening Joint Prevention and Control of COVID-19 was formally implemented recently.

· As of February 29, a total of 548 municipal-level major projects resumed construction with a work resumption rate of 98.4%.

Chongqing – As of 24:00 local time on March 1, Chongqing had reported 120 confirmed cases currently hospitalized (nine in severe condition and two in critical condition), six deaths, and 450 discharged patients after recovery, according to the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission Monday. All those cases had totaled 576 confirmed cases infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as of the end of Sunday in Chongqing.

Sunday had no newly confirmed case for the sixth consecutive day, and twelve more patients recovered and discharged from the hospital. A total of 23,563 people who had close contacts with COVID-19 patients have been traced, 23,192 people have been released from medical observation, and 371 people are under medical observation.

Chongqing-Sichuan Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism

Southwest China’s Chongqing and Sichuan’s Memorandum on Coordinately Strengthening Joint Prevention and Control of COVID-19 was formally implemented recently.

The memorandum involves eight aspects: the information sharing of the epidemic situation, mutual recognition, and interflow of personnel mobility, the safe and orderly return of workers in the two places, mutual assistance for emergency supplies and living necessities, the passage of vehicles carrying supplies, the merger and removal of the epidemic prevention checkpoint at the junction, management of social security and improvement of the long-term effective mechanism of joint health emergency prevention and control. Chongqing Municipality has worked with Sichuan Province to establish joint prevention and joint mechanism, further to enhance the ability of social, collaborative governance.

548 municipal-level major projects resumed construction

Chongqing has implemented targeted measures and given sector-specific guidance to accelerate starting or resuming construction, under the premise of ensuring safety and quality. As of February 29, a total of 548 municipal-level major projects resumed construction with a work resumption rate of 98.4%, and an overall of 270 new projects under construction with a work resumption rate of 73.6%.

Chongqing makes full use of the advantages of next-generation information technology such as big data, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things to help enterprises resume production as soon as possible. According to the Chongqing Economy and Informatization Commission, Chongqing City had promoted a total of 1,280 intelligent transformation projects and identify the construction of 115 digital workshops and 25 smart factories in 2019.

The overall confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland had reached 80,026 by the end of Sunday, and 2,912 people had died of the disease, according to the National Health Commission (NHC) Monday. A total of 44,462 people had been discharged from the hospital after recovery. By the end of Sunday, 98 confirmed cases, including two deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), ten confirmed cases in the Macao SAR, and 40 in Taiwan, including one death. Thirty-six patients in Hong Kong, eight in Macao, and 12 in Taiwan had been discharged from hospital after recovery.

China’s daily output of masks reached 116 million units as of the end of February, 12 times the figure reported on February 1, according to the National Development and Reform Commission Monday. The consistent rise in both capacity and output further narrowed the supply deficit. As of Saturday, the daily production of N95 medical masks reached 1.66 million units to ensure medical staff at the forefront of the battle against the novel coronavirus are well-equipped.
